Delhi Private School Dubai is a good school with it's facilities and staff but they give too much homework right before a test especially during Arabic. When we keep the books in class, the always get lost. But anyway, the teaching is good and most f the students are happy.

Ive been a student at Delhi Private School Dubai, for the longest possible time. From day one, till date.

The teaching-learning experience differed from grades to others. For Example:

Primary Education (KG1-Grade 5) Is excellent and every child is pushed to succeed.
Middle School: (Grade 6-Grade 9) Is very academically approached, and other extra curriculas are rarely given as much importance as they require in this day and age.
Senior School: (Grades 10,11,12): I believe that the education at this period is very well rounded and children are made confident speakers, ready to approach the real world.

Although, the teachers aren't excellent at DPS Dubai (Senior Teachers Specifically), they remain in your lives for a very long time, all mean well, and will support you no matter what you need.

Everything else in terms of facilities in the campus are 100/100!

DPS Dubai has been a great school for my kids for the last 8 years and they have ensured the parents are well represented in all their decisions and activities UNTIL Mar 2015 when they decided to Hike the school Fees, Transportation Fees, and Book costs without adequate notice. In short, in the sly they hiked the rate after the end of the school academic year and 2 weeks before the start of the next academic year. This is surely one of the most disappointing and unethical action taken by the school in the time it has been in Dubai.

We used to be proud of this school which try to ape the DPS Sharjah school and made an identity for itself. Alas, it seems all withered away with this absolutely brash decision that has left a sour feeling amongst the parents affected.

They are refusing the take any petition from a group of parents and surely they have made up their mind that parents will succumb to the hike given the short period between now and the start of the school.

A very disappointed parent.

DPS Dubai school has maintained a monopoly over the text books & note books and therefore has succeeded in charging a high fee towards the academic books sets which Parents are forced to buy from the school. Since my ward is in grade 5 this year we needed AED 1085/- to pay for their books(a similar fee as last year). Like other schools I know, they've a option of buying from standard book stores where a similiar grade books would work out to be around AED.200-300.

Major agitation from the parents

Parents floored as school hikes bus fee by 175%

Tuesday, April 07, 2015

Dubai — A bus fee hike of almost 175 per cent has caused an uproar among parents of Delhi Private School (DPS), The Gardens, Dubai.

The yearly school bus fee of Dh1,100 for students in the Jebel Ali area for the 2014-15 academic year has now been hiked to Dh2,500, which has to be paid in three instalments.

Parents of students living in Bur Dubai and Karama who have been paying Dh1,905 per annum said they will now have to shell out Dh4,300 and students living in Sharjah will have to cough up Dh5,200.

The parents have also opened a closed group ‘Petition against fee hike’ involving over 599 members on Facebook addressing the issue of fee hikes. Parents have alleged that the hike was announced in a very sudden and deliberate manner. About 15 days ago, some parents received an SMS announcing the hike, while many others found out through other parents.

The school was awarded a Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) rating of Outstanding this year, for which the school fees were hiked by 3 per cent.

The parents said that despite the hike, there are no changes in the transport services. “There are no lady nannies in the buses and it is only today (Monday) that the electronic chip identification process was introduced,” he added.

Pro-vice-chairman and managing director of the three DPS campuses in the UAE, Dinesh Kothari, said, “The school decided to outsource the transport because it was a drain on the finances and human resources of the school. We did ask the company to be sensitive to the needs of the parents but as per our calculation, the fee hike amounts only to Dh200 per month. We want to now focus entirely on the quality of education.”

Dps dubai is sharing the student details and contact numbers to various tution centers in dubai .

This is not only unethical, it can be a security risk to students if these details fall in to wrong hands.

The problem is that the principal is so detached from day to day activities of the school, she has no clue how admin works there. Try calling the school phone number and you will never get through .
Every other school in Dubai, the parents can meet the principal with a prior appointment . But in DPS dubai , that is next to impossible

DPS Dubai has to improve on following things:
- Should connect with students more and identify their abilities.
- Teachers should more focus on teaching the students in class (not in tutions) rather just giving them writing work to do at home.
- Set the question paper in proportionate to the syllabus and what they teach, instead of asking all possible things under the sun.
- In every school, you will have 20% who will be scoring less than 50% marks whereas in DPS Dubai 80% score less than 50%. There is no motivation for the kids though they write well in the exams.
- In DPS Dubai, the school discriminates the students by moving bright students to A and B sections and rest all left in other classes. Students have to really struggle to stay in A or B sections. I would say its a 19th Century model school.

DPS has to change their way of teaching, else parents will have to change the school.
