Single mother and residence visa for daughter in Dubai

Postby cheri » 09 May 2015, 01:38

Good day. I am a single mom in Dubai. I am planning to get my daughter in Dubai for a tour under my brother's sponsorship. The problem is that my daughter is holding her father's last name. Will there be an issue with that and any requirements which I need to process? Another thing, if visa will be approved, my daughter who is only 2 years old will be flying to UAE with my mom. I do not see any support from my daughter's father if I need any document for his signature for we were really not in good terms after a few months from my daughter's baptism.

Check with Dubai immigration if your brother can sponsor your daughter. I don't know how easy it is for an uncle to sponsor his niece in the UAE, especially for a niece who is only 2 years old. I didn't think it was even possible.

If you're talking about a visit visa, usually they can be sponsored by first degree relatives i.e. brother sponsors sister, child sponsors parent, parent sponsors child.

For you to sponsor your daughter, if you can prove to Dubai immigration that she is your daughter then I don't think the different name will be so relevant. The birth certificate should show your name and the daughter's name. You might need an approval letter from the father, check with the Dubai immigration helpline. They are helpful, and they are the official authority so you'll get better information directly from them.

As far as I know, you will need a minimum salary of AED 4,000, or AED 3,000 if in company provided accommodation, to be able to sponsor your daughter as a single mother.
