E-Gate card for UAE visit visa holders

Postby raghsavi » 30 Jul 2014, 14:03

Dear Sir,

As you are aware the E-Gate Card is now widely being used by expats in the UAE. Additionally, the UAE government is now allowing European & US nationals to enter the UAE through the E-Gate after scanning their EGATE CARD on arrival.

It is also heard that even the passport is also scanned at the emigration and they let passengers in to UAE. Please confirm

Thanks

As far as I know, when the e-gate system first started, the card was available to visit visa holders from the countries which could get a visit visa on arrival. I thought that facility had been suspended or cancelled a few years ago. If I'm wrong or egate card for visitors has been reinstated then that's good news for those nationalities.

Don't really understand what you want confirmed.

Most border controls and immigration counters at airports around the world, not just the UAE, scan passports and then let the holder in. If they hold the correct visa or don't need one, or can get one issued at arrival.
