Gulf News 16 April 2006 had an article about the new Dubai Municipality website (usedcars.ae) for the used car market, which lists 130 showrooms and an easy search facility for cars. Report also said there were online car auctions... but when I looked, I couldn't find any online auction facility. The claim that buyers "will get a safe car" claim sounds interesting
Has anyone bought a car from the used car complex? Was it safe? Were you happy with it? Did you think you got a good deal? Here's what the Gulf News report said ...
While you may not be able to haggle over the price, you can be sure the vehicle is roadworthy as the Municipality does a double check on the cars. "You will get a safe car in good condition," said Khalifa Abdulla Hareb, head of markets in the Municipality. The website usedcars.ae was launched yesterday and Acting Director General Hussain Nasser Lootah said there will also be an online auction of over 30 vehicles every week.
