Trust Seven Days to get a story from an obscure school in UAQ. An interesting way to use the word "stinking" as a verb - I can see the signs now, "no stinking in the corridors"...

'Smelly’ girl court battle

The parents of a 14-year-old girl who says she is too embarrassed to return to school after being taken out of her classroom for “stinking” have threatened to take the school to court. Speaking to 7DAYS after registering a complaint with the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Umm al Quwain, Mohammed, the girl’s father, said he wanted the school to be punished by the court. “We are very keen that the school which humiliated my daughter should be punished. They have to learn how to treat children,” he said.

The student was made to sit out classes last Tuesday after students and teachers at the East English School complained of a foul smell. She says she was bullied the next day, and has refused to return to school since. Meanwhile a senior official from the MOE promised to look into the allegations.

Obaid Al Gawood Head of Umm al Quwain Education Area said the case has been already handed over to the Private Education Sector for investigation. The school has denied embarrassing the girl, saying she was only spoken to about the smell in private.
