Jebel Ali Secondary School is (or was) the new secondary school for students from Jebel Ali Primary School JAPS Dubai to continue into, and opening was planned for September 2009. A letter from the JAPS Board of Governers dated 10 February 2009 says that plans for the school have been put on hold. They were informed by Nakheel, the developer of the new Jebel Ali Village, that basic utilities would not be available on time. As for a future opening date, the letter says "We are currently in discussions with Nakheel about their plans for the village and will not be able to move forward with a new school until these are clear."
