One of the investors in the Ireland in the Sun project on the Ireland island, John O’Dolan, committed suicide on 27 February 2009 according to the Irish Independent, The Mail on Sunday, and other reports. He was 51 years old and owned or had investments in many property companies, of which several had significant debts. O'Dolan and three other investors paid $38 million for the island of Ireland in 2007. The Irish Times reported in September 2008 that he and other investors had also bought the island of England for 23.5 million euros ($30.4 million) from Nakheel.
