American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK?) is a new university to be established out of the ashes of George Mason University RAK, that is shutting down operations in May 2006. Does that mean a new university altogether? Or just a rebranding and new logo but students and staff carry on as they were ... sort of? Education RAK said in a press release that "A new successor university will be formed to ensure that the people of Ras al Khaimah, the UAE and the region who aspire to attain high quality, professional higher education have the opportunity and support to achieve that goal". AURAK now open for September 2009 enrollment offering 3 Bachelor of Science Degrees in:

1. Business Administration (International Business, Managment, Marketing, Finance)
2. Biology (Biotechnology, Bioinformatics)
3. Electronics & Communication Engineering (Information Technology)

or an English Language Program (for general public).

Admission requirements: 60% UAE curriculum for Business/Biology, 70% Engineering
TOEFL 500 paper based, 61 internet based, or IETLS 5.0 band

Tuition: AED 20,000 per semester for bachelor's, scholarships available
AED 10,500 for ELP

Location: Old George Mason University Campus, in process of renovation. Color theme: red & white logo
New Student Center currently being built near road way (active construction) along with new residence hall. Major classroom renovation over summer.

I can see the information is over two years old. Sharon Siverts has been thrown out. There is no 'American' administration. A university with FIFTEEN teaching staff is not a university in anyone's book. The place is a bad joke.
