Universal American School comments from ISR

Postby shawarma on 03 Dec 2007, 15:01

internationalschoolsreview.com had some less than outstanding comments about Universal American School  ...

Comments: UASD is owned by ESOL, a company owned and operated for profit by Waleed Abushakra. Avoid UASD at all costs. Teachers' contracts are not being honored, teaching too many classes to too many students and with unreasonable requirments for duties outside of instruction. Professionally, this will be a lesson in futitility. They target inexperienced new teachers...

A lesson in "futitility" (I can't even say that)? Presumably they meant futility. Comment is undated.

Several other much more positive comments from parents seen on expatwoman.com, although they have a reputation for deleting criticism.

Of course, parents are the ones giving the school money. Some of which is then given to teachers. It would be understandable if the two groups had different perspectives.

If I am understanding your response, it seems you think they are making a claim of providing IB for 20 years at UAS???

If so, I think you misunderstood.
It states UAS offers IB since 07, but ESOL schools have been providing IB for 20 years.

Hello salient and welcome to the Dubai forums :)

My first post quoted this from the UAE website. It seems clear to me, I didn't misunderstand anything as far as I can tell :).

UAS website wrote:The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP) will be introduced in the 2007-08 school year. ESOL schools have offered the IB program for close to twenty years.

By the way, please can you modify your signature so it's only one line of plain text (see forum rules). Thanks :).

Ok, it sounded like you were claiming the USD site was contradicted by the IB site. I didn't check, but did you check if ESOL schools offered the IB for 20 years???

Ok, no problem. Sorry I didn't read line for line the agreement,... I belong to multiple forums,... I made a false assumption!
I am not sure what you mean by "plain text" Size or color,... or both?
