Jumeirah Primary City School in 'New Dubai'?

Postby shawarma on 03 Dec 2007, 15:57

A press release from JPCS today (05 July 2007) which doesn't say an awful lot except that 'New Dubai' is a lot closer to 'Old Dubai' than I previously thought. Near Satwa 8O ??? So what's Dubai Marina, Emirates Hills etc? 'Very Very New Dubai'?

GEMS takes primary school model to 'New Dubai'

Residents of 'New Dubai' are to benefit from a world-class school opening near the upcoming downtown area in September 2007.

Situated on Satwa Road behind the Shangri-La Hotel, the GEMS Jumeirah Primary City School will offer premium British education to children from Foundation Stage to Year 6. It will be a vibrant campus set amidst Dubai's most prestigious business district and serve the needs of a growing city based population.

'GEMS Jumeirah Primary City School will give Downtown-based families access to world class education without the hassle of a long drive to the school,' said Mel Curtis, Principal of Jumeirah Primary School, the sister school of Jumeirah Primary City School. 'It will fulfill a need for neighbourhood schools close to the city centre and places of work, a part of life in fast developing cities like Dubai. The catchment it will serve includes the Sheikh Zayed Road and the Burj Dubai residential areas.'

GEMS, the largest provider of international education in the region, has modelled its new school on its highly successful Jumeirah Primary School (JPS), the most sought-after primary British curriculum school in Dubai. Like JPS, the new school will offer the National Curriculum of England.

'The Jumeirah Primary School has been so successful it has a wait list of over 300 students. For Dubai's growing city-based population the opening of Jumeirah Primary City School will provide sought after education and the added advantage of being close to home,' said Mel Curtis.
