Dubai Visit Visa sponsored by employer

Postby shawarma on 16 Jun 2010, 13:43

An employer in Dubai and UAE can sponsor someone for a UAE visit visa, but not automatically. I think the employer has to have pre-arranged that option with the relevant UAE immigration department. They need to leave a large deposit as far as I know.

The arrangement is then between the company and the visitor. The employee has nothing to do with it, although indirectly, a company might be more likely to sponsor a visitor if they are known to one of their employees. I'm not sure how common that is, I think the facility is intended for companies to sponsor visitors on business trips rather than friends of employees.

Working on a visit visa in UAE

Postby shawarma on 17 Jun 2010, 23:48

He could be in trouble for working on a visit visa. He and/or the employer could be fined, he could be jailed and/or deported.

However, he shouldn't be subject to a UAE labour ban if he leaves his current employer for another one, assuming he doesn't have a labour permit or residence visa, and isn't here on an employment entry visa.

I suppose if he had signed a letter or employment agreement with the current employer, then they could try to make a civil case against him and sue him for financial compensation if he left abruptly, but I think that would be unlikely given that then the employer might have problems because they employed him without the correct documentation.

If he hasn't signed any agreement, and has not handed in his passport or any other papers for processing, then I don't see how the current employer can make a case against him easily. A verbal contract is just as binding as a written contract, however it is much more difficult to prove.

Otherwise, if the employer has some wasta with the immigration department or labour department, they might be able to cause problems for him.

I can't believe that even though employer doing illegal things i.e not issuing the offer letter and hiring employee on visit visa.... but still they can create problems by WASTA... anyways, this company took the passport copy, pictures and previous visa cancellation copy to process his VISIT VISA....I think even without signing any agreement or paper... employer can create a problem if he will join another company. It means if Employer doing the Illegal things so UAE wasta support them... why this is like this?

Wasta in the UAE

I'm not saying the employer will cause problems, I'm just saying it's possible.
