Dubai Explorer guide have been releasing road maps thick and fast. I just picked up the mini-maps of Abu Dhabi and Sharjah yesterday. They look handy. I've had the Dubai mini map for a while and found it very useful.
Some other possible resources...
- ae.map24.com/ - good interactive online map.
- www.arabianview.com/map-pdf/Dubai_Internet.pdf - excellent overall view of Dubai, mostly up to date (Aug 2006), many street names, landmarks, some schools, area names, includes the palms, the world, good level of detail but too much to view all at once on one computer screen (but still worth scrolling around).
- www.dubai.ws/dubai_map.htm - download and run dubaimap.exe (not tried it yet, don't know if safe and/or useful).
- www.godubai.com/images/map_of_dubai.jpg - Jumeirah 1 to Hamriya and Garhoud/Airport. Simple line drawing showing landmarks and areas, some road names.
- guide.theemiratesnetwork.com/maps/ - useful map showing the different emirates and the actual areas they occupy. City/emirate maps are only useful for showing where they are in relation to other emirates, no street names, landmarks, and out of date.
- www.informap.ae/ - produces UAElocator PDA GPS R04 for handheld PPCs.
