Press Release from 10 May 2007 about Aldar Academies being established:
ALDAR Academies LLC established to increase the number of schools in Abu Dhabi
ALDAR Properties, Abu Dhabi's first and leading property developer, has accelerated its plans to provide much-needed schools in Abu Dhabi, with its first facility set to open its doors to new pupils in September 2007.
The developer has prioritised this social element in order to meet the urgent needs of the fast growing capital.
ALDAR stressed it will ensure that education provision will be a core part of all of the organisation's future residential developments, adding greater choice for current and future demands.
'ALDAR is giving maximum support to the nation's top priority of education. This is vitally important to a fast expanding and already successful emirate. ALDAR Academies is testimony of our commitment to education and to Abu Dhabi,' explained ALDAR Properties Chairman, Ahmed Al Sayegh.
ALDAR will fulfil its commitment to education in the United Arab Emirates through the newly established, dedicated, in-house division; ALDAR Academies LLC. This way ALDAR will be able to ensure school development is an integral part of its operations. Over the next few years it is envisaged that ALDAR Academies will build and operate up to 20 new schools.
'ALDAR's role in supporting the educational needs of the region will be done in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Educational Zone and Abu Dhabi Educational Council this will contribute to the AEU's ambitious programme to drive up Educational Standards in the region through the provision of high quality educational provision across a range of International curricula. ALDAR sees this as a vital step in Abu Dhabi's development and we are privileged to be at the heart of this provision,' said Ronald Barrott, CEO ALDAR.
'ALDAR wanted to increase the number of premium schools offering a variety of curricula including British, American, International and Arabic to support its quality residential communities. ALDAR's aim is to place schools at the heart of our communities. Parents who live in ALDAR communities will enjoy the added benefit of choice, improved educational facilities and curricula,' added ALDAR Academies' Managing Director John Curley.
The first school is located near to the Abu Dhabi Women's Colleges. It is envisaged that pupils who complete Year 6 will transfer to ALDAR's second new school due to open at Al Raha Gardens in September 2008. This school will again offer a British Curriculum, which has been designed to cater for over 1700 pupils aged from three to 18 years old. Registration will be open to all nationalities who seek a British Curriculum.
