Nakheel Announce Partnership with Madaares

Dubai, 9th September 2007: Nakheel, one of the world’s largest privately-held property developers, today announced a partnership with Madaares and Beacon Education to build a leading American curriculum school at Al Furjan, Nakheel’s new family-oriented villa community. This world class school will be the centre of a large community and will have a total capacity of over 1,700 students and will be operational by 2009.

The American curriculum school will provide Al Furjan families with a stimulating, safe and secure environment for their children in which the highest quality of teaching is delivered and learning is achieved. The carefully planned architecture of the school will provide sporting and leisure facilities for the use of the Al Furjan community even beyond the school day.

In a statement from Board Chairman of Madaares, Nasser Bin Hassan Al-Shaikh he commented: “As our newest American curriculum school the campus in Al Furjan will focus on the development of the whole child with an emphasis on individual skills and talents whilst ensuring the social and emotional needs of the child are met. Our aim at Madaares is to increase the quality of education in the Gulf region by combining local knowledge with expertise drawn from around the world.”

Madaares with its education management company, Beacon Education, intend to raise the standard of private education in the region and provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to compete with the world’s top schools.

Mohammed Rashed Bin Dhabeah, Director, Al Furjan, said: “At Nakheel we are delighted to have confirmed our partnership with Madaares. Al Furjan is a family focused development where the values of neighbourhood living lie at the heart of the community. The announcement of a leading American curriculum school at Al Furjan makes the development an ideal place for families to invest in their future.”

Al Furjan School delayed

Postby shawarma on 20 Sep 2008, 17:41

Now here's a curious thing. I was trying to find any updates to the school in the Al Furjan Villas development and came across the original press release in several different places (the usual news reports etc - more than 50 of them in The Google). Except that the first paragraph said " ... and will be operational by the time the houses are handed over to Al Furjan residents in 2010."

What's odd is that the Taleem / Madaares / Beacon Education version of the press release says "... total capacity of over 1,700 students and will be operational by 2009", which is the one I used originally (it's still in The Google but trying to get to taaleem.ae gives me an error). Anyway, based on slowness of Nakheel's previous developments, I wouldn't expect Al Furjan to be any different - we might find that even September 2010 turns out to be optimistic...
