Or more correctly, SouqExtra! (or Souk Extra, Souq Extra). The SouqExtra! slogan is "My Favorite Place".

A chain of "neghbourhood supercentres" developed by The Lootah Group. Intended to be a community oriented center with top quality fresh food store, fast food restaurants, children's play area, car wash (self service), laundry, pharmacy, money exchange, bank, day care center, medical clinic, gym, coffee shops, community hall, beauty salon.

First SoukExtra! being built at Ewan Residences, Dubai. Another 9 SoukExtra outlets throughout the UAE to be built, with Al Barsha, Al Quoz and Al Muhaisnah gettting the next 3 by the end of 2008. Further UAE outlets will then opened in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah. Other GCC countries will get a SouqExtra! in 2009, if all goes according to plan.

Phase I investment of AED 200 million - for the UAE projects.
Area of each SouqExtra! development is 25,000 to 80,000 square feet, or 50,000 to 100,000 sq ft. Depends on which press release you read.

SouqExtra! Al Ain (or SoukExtra Al Ain) is on the cards according to a press release 01 July 2008.

Al Ain SouqExtra branch will cover an area of 15,000 or 25,000 sq ft (both numbers supplied in press release) in the Al Batheen area of Al Ain, and will cost about AED 40 million. The center will be close to Al Ain International Airport.
Expected opening date is September 2009.
Al Ain SouqExtra will include 25 services for example cafes & coffee shops, gymnasium, laundry, pharmacy.
Car park with capacity for 125 cars
About 9,000 visitors per day are expected
Estimated annual growth of 15% by 2012

General update on SouqExtra

SouqExtra! plans to open 20 outlets by 2010 (previously they said 10 outlets). Each outlet will cover an area of 25,000 to 100,000 sq ft (but the press release said the Al Ain outlet was only 15,000 sq ft?). Total retail space in Phase I is expected to be 500,000 sq ft

Ewan Residences SoukExtra! (the first one) will open in October 2008 (previously was expected to be September 2008)
Three more SoukExtras in Al Barsha, Al Quoz, Al Muhaisnah expected to open in the first quarter of 2009
Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah SoukExtra outlets expected to open in the second quarter of 2009
Al Ain, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi centers expected to open by the end of 2009

SoukExtra investors include the Lootah Group, Emirates Post Group, National Bonds Corporation, Bonyan Holding, Abbasi Group and other high net worth individuals.
