- What? Global Village in Dubai is an annual pseudo-carnival in conjunction with the Dubai Shopping Festival, although it goes on longer. Many different countries sell their food, products, and perform shows in pavilions built especially for the event, and themed according to the country represented. There are a bunch of carnival rides to keep everyone amused also.
- Where? Global Village in Dubailand on Emirates Road. Find the Arabian Ranches roundabout and head towards Sharjah. It's well signposted. Or head out of Dubai on the Al Ain Highway and turn left onto the Emirates Road. If you get to the 611 Road, or Dubai Bypass Road, you've gone too far.
- When? 13 December 2007 to 1 March 2008. Opening hours 4 pm to midnight Sunday to Wednesday, 4 pm to 1 am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Note that Mondays are family days only - no men allowed in.

Other Global Village information
The first Global Village event was in January 1996 on the Deira side of Dubai Creek in a carpark, with a small collection of kiosks. Pizza Hut and KFC seemed to be the most popular stands at the time.
Cycle Rickshaws
Global Village and the Indian Pavillion imported 50 rickshaw drivers to drag people around Global Village (in rickshaws - a three wheeled device pedalled by a person). Something different and a ride only costs 5 dhs, but you won't be taken on the Emirates Road, or into the Global Village. No discount if your name is Richard Shaw.
