Etihad Airways

Etihad Airways is an Abu Dhabi based carrier that began operations in 2005. Etihad say they are the UAE's national carrier, which is probably fair enough since Abu Dhabi is the capital of the UAE. Emirates Airlines, despite the name, and being in operation for 20 years more than Etihad, is only Dubai's airline, not the national airline.

Bus transport from Dubai to Abu Dhabi airport is available. For anyone living in Dubai from Jumeirah to Jebel Ali, it may be a viable alternative to go to Abu Dhabi airport instead of Dubai airport at bad traffic times. Although, now going over Business Bay bridge is fairly quick most of the time if you take the Festival City shortcut to Dubai Airport. I've heard positive comments about the Etihad flight experience. And they're usually cheaper than Emirates (EK). They have a confusing system of classes though.

Diamond means first class
Pearl means business class
Compost means cattle class (not sure about the last one ;) )...

Free chauffeured limousines

Business and first class passengers get a free ride from anywhere in the UAE using the "Etihad Chauffer" service, complete with free water, newspaper, and paper towels. New cars from 01 January 2008 for Dubai and Northern Emirates, Cadillac DTS for first class (Diamond), Caprice Classic for business class (Pearl). The rest of the UAE get them from 01 February 2008. Chauffer service also available in some destinations including Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Manchester, Munich, New York, Sydney.

Have you flown Etihad Airways? What did you think?
