Pearls of Arabia

Postby shawarma » 26 Feb 2008, 00:48

  • Property name: Pearls of Arabia Experience Center on the island of Antarctica, a pearl themed exhibition center of sorts with a pearl-themed cultural heritage centre, a performing arts theatre, an exhibition gallery, a restaurant, and shops (maybe even some selling pearls). The intention is to re-establish Dubai as the center for the global pearl trade. On the island of Antarctica? The island of Tahiti might have been more suitable from a marketing point of view :).

  • Website: Not found yet. pearlsofdubai.com and pearlsofarabia.com are registered to what appears to be Dubai World, or their Ports & FZ subsidiary, but are just showing spam at the moment. While pearlsofdubai.ae and pearlsofarabia.ae are parked pages with UAEnic (UAE domain name registrar).
Other facilities and information

In May 2007, DMCC issued a press release describing their "Pearls of Dubai" venture, to be located off the coast of Dubai. The press release did not specify anywhere in The World. Much of it read the same as the press release today about "Pearls of Arabia", so presumably it's the same news. The DMCC doesn't have any information on their website yet.

It looks like Michael Shumacher wasn't given Antarctica then (as was rumoured in 2006), unless there is more than one island making up Antarctica - quite possible. The press release from 25 February 2008 said "on Antartica" which implies there is only one island?
DMCC will establish a 6,000-square-metre Experience Centre on Antarctica at The World Islands.
