611 Road

The 611 Road or Dubai Bypass Road runs from Sharjah to the Abu Dhabi border when completed, roughly parallel to Emirates Road (the 311 Road).

RTA announced that phase III will be open to traffic from tomorrow, 07 March 2008. The numbering seems off though. I thought it was

Phase I: Dubai Outlet Mall / Al Ruwayyah interchange to Labab Road interchange (road from Jebel Ali to Lahbab / Hibab)
Phase II: Sharjah Border to Al Ruwiyah (existing but being expanded)
Phase III: Labab Road to Abu Dhabi border (still under construction)

But apparently it's (based on 07 March 2008 information)

Phase II: Sharjah Border to Al Ruweyah
Phase III: Dubai Outlet Mall / Al Ruwiya interchange to Libab Road interchange (road from Jebel Ali to Labhab / Hebab)
Phase IV: Labab Road to Abu Dhabi border

So where did phase I go ? And does anyone really care?

The 611 Road (or E611) in Dubai has been completed according to an RTA press release 03 July 2010. And the phase numbering system has been cleared up, sort of.

Phase I - from Al Ruwayyah interchange on the Dubai-Al Ain Rd to the Jebel Ali-Lahbab (Al Hebab) Rd (E77).
Phase II - the bit from Sharjah (Al Saja'a interchange) to Al Ruwaiyya on the Al Ain Road (where Academic City is).
Phase III - the "Al Qudrah Bridge" which is sort of part of Phase I since Al Qudra Road (or Umm Suqeim Road where it starts at Madinat Jumeirah) is between the Al Ain Rd and the Jebel Ali-Lahbab Rd. Phase III might be describing an upgrade, press release wasn't very clear. And the term "Bridge" does include a bridge (and the last time I drove over it, there was limited or no access to the Al Qudra Road) but might also be referring to the section of the road in that area - there are some tunnels on the 611 road where you can do U-turns).
Phase IV - the section from the Jebel Ali-Al Hebab (Labab) Road to the Abu Dhabi border.
