Air Arabia starts daily services from Sharjah to Kozhikode (previously known as Calicut) according to a press release 28 May 2008. Air Arabia first started flying to Kozhikode in February 2008 with 3 flights per week.

According to a news report in "The New Indian Express" 23 March 2009, Air Arabia have suspended flights to Kozhikode (Calicut). But I just tried to make a booking on the Air Arabia website and there was no problem getting a flight for April 2009 (cost was AED 359 for flight plus AED 472 taxes and surcharges for a total of AED 831.

A senior Air Arabia official told The New Indian Express that the poor demand from the passengers is the main reason for the revenue loss which results in the suspension of the services to Kozhikode. “There are almost 2600 seats available a day, but the demand is only around 1500,” he said.
