UAE school ratings

The school information pages have an updated rating system. The previous ratings have been replaced by a user voting system so now it's your opinion that counts directly, instead of our opinion of your opinions, and will hopefully be more representative of what you think about Dubai and UAE schools :).

  • Student satisfaction - how satisfied are students with the school and their teachers (only students should make a selection)
  • Parent satisfaction - how satisfied are parents with the services provided, relative to the fees paid (only parents should make a selection)
  • Teacher satisfaction - how satisfied are teachers with the school as a place to work relative to the package provided (only teachers should make a selection)
This system is very subjective, and it relies on students, parents, and teachers being honest about voting in the correct row. We have tried to prevent multiple votes from one person, but without a username and password login (which we didn't really want), it's difficult to stop that completely. So treat results with a pinch of salt if they seem to jar with any comments, or anything you've heard elsewhere, especially if there seems to be a large mismatch between the different groups.

There are no specified criteria for voting, since they can be easily ignored. But try and make your ratings relative to school fees (or teacher salaries). Giving a school a bad rating just because it's expensive or a good rating just because it's cheap is not that useful since the fees information is already available (when we can find it). And please consider adding a comment about your rating in the relevant school topic. It's not required, but it will be helpful for others to read. Thanks in advance for your contributions :).

Dubai school ratings

The KHDA inspected Dubai schools from October to December 2008. Actually, its subsidiary, the Dubai School Inspections Bureau (DSIB), did the inspections. The first results were released today by the KHDA - about 70 out of 220 schools...

UAE teacher ratings

Postby shawarma » 03 Apr 2009, 14:55

The teacher ratings have been reset. It appeared as though it wasn't clear how visitors should add a vote for the "teacher satisfaction rating" - it was intended to reflect how satisfied teachers were about working at the school. It seems as if many voters (students and parents) were using the rating to express their satisfaction with the teachers. This is not an easy thing to incorporate since there is a large variation in any school from one teacher to the next, and of course, given that teachers come and go from one year to the next, votes become obselete quicker than they do for the school overall. The voting section has had a clarification added, and has also been modified to try and restrict multiple votes for different categories from the same person (e.g. a student should rate for student satisfaction, not student & parent & teacher satisfaction).
