The City International School TCIS Dubai reviews

Postby shawarma on 07 Sep 2008, 13:26

The City International School (TCIS or TCSI?) - Dubai FAQs information. Note that The City Nursery which was in Jumeirah closed in January 2008 and moved to The City International School in Nadd Al Hamaar (between Ras Al Khor / Al Awir and Rashidiyah).

Questions:

Who is the head?
What is the PO Box?
What are the fees (no information found on TCIS website)?
How many students (KHDA says 250 but that may be out of date)?
How many teachers?
What is the teacher pay scale and benefits package?

The City School is a Pakistan based school (or group of schools?) with a British curriculum, so presumably TCIS is mostly students from Pakistan?
TCS in Pakistan was established 1978 but when was TCIS in Dubai established?

Any other comments about TCIS from students, teachers or parents? Add them here :)...

Re: The City International School TCIS Dubai

My kids are studying in The City International School Dubai situated in Nad Al Hammer, at first I thought that among other Pakistani schools the rating is better, however upon so many personal experiences I found that the school management is incompetent and school principal is not child behavior orientated. Although British, but the mindset is way back in 60s. It has a rating of Satisfactory in 2011. I feel that inspectors should look deep into interviewing individual parents and get their direct feedback. School management is scared from most of the Arab national, and they demotivate south Asian students, as it was revealed to us through a teacher in school. School principal cannot stand the argument of children and concentrate on emphasizing punishments. So far I have not seen any behavior policy. I would like as government authorities as well, whether there is any code of conduct for children behavior and punishing them. I have also noticed favoritism among the school teachers, if they are somehow close to child's parents. School activities are mainly focusing on creating western socialization, while exploring true talent among the kids not seen. It is also noticed that kids appearing in entrance tests in other school often fails badly, while the same kids are achieving A or B grade in the school. I strongly think that present management of the school should be changed, more focused teachers should be employed and discipline should be improved. Otherwise more and more parents will decide to leave the school.
