American School in Sharjah - Dubai FAQs. Evolvence Capital has an American School under construction in Sharjah, according to an advertisement for a project manager they had in June 2008 ("3. An American School in Sharjah, is currently under construction."). They'll have to be careful with the acronym - maybe it will be ASIS, or SAS for Sharjah American School. Which will be confusing - there's already a Sharjah American International School (SAIS).

Does anyone know more?

When is it expected to open?

Name of the new school is American Community School in Sharjah, or ACS Sharjah (DubaiFAQs information updated). Some gaps still (reply here if you know more ) ...

• School is profit making or non-profit: presumably profit making like other Evolvence schools in the UAE

• Number of students (approx): Large school, haven't found a capacity figure anywhere but could be more than 2000 when it's full. School opens for business in September 2009.

• Range of students: School starts with KG to grade 4 for September 2009, then it looks like they're planning to expand to grade 12 for September 2010 (based on website information) which seems a big leap. Usually schools expand one grade per year.

Highest tuition rate is about 60,000 AED for high school, not the 80,000 to 100,000 noted here, that is way off.

The Sharjah American Community School fees are listed as AED 32,000-53,000 for 2009-2010 for up to grade 4. You might have seen the estimate of 80,000-100,000 dhs fees for grades 11-12. That number is an estimate only since the ACS website doesn't give fees information for classes higher than grade 4 yet. The estimate is based on looking at fee ranges for other schools that do have KG to grade 12 classes with similar fees at the lower levels, for example Repton Dubai (also an Evolvence Capital school), and Dubai World Academy.

The opening of the new ACS Sharjah has been delayed from September 2009 to September 2010 according to recent newsletters from the school. What happened?
