United Airlines starts flights between Washington DC Dulles International Airport (IAB) and Dubai International Airport (DXB) from 26 October 2008 (first announced May 2008)
- Flights will be daily, non-stop, on a Boeing 777-200ER.
- Dubai (DXB) to Washington DC Dulles (IAD) (flight UA977) departs 23:30, arrives 06:44 next day, journey time 15 hours (flight times will adjust for daylight saving in the USA)
- Washington DC Dulles (IAD) to Dubai (DXB) flight UA976, departs 22:02, arrives 18:50 next day, flight time 13 hours
- GSA (General Sales Agent) in the UAE is DNATA (an Emirates Group subsidiary).
- An Economy Plus class is available with an extra 13 cm of legroom, not quite business class but an improvement on the usual sardine tin class.
- Fares are about AED 3,220 (US$877) return for economy class and AED 13,990 for business class.
- United Airlines is the second US carrier to offer direct flights from Dubai - Delta Airlines was the first, flying to Atlanta, Georgia from 01 June 2007. Emirates Airlines also do direct flights to a handful of US cities, including New York.
